Jahrsdoerfer Grading Scale

  • The Jahrsdoerfer grading scale is a clinical scale based on radiographic features used to determine whether a patient is a good candidate for congenital aural atresia repair.1
  • All features are worth 1 point, except for the presence of the stapes, which is the most clinically important, and is worth 2 points.

  • Generally you need a score of ≥ 7 to consider surgery.
  • The maximum possible score is 10.
